One board failure never affects the whole system. Star topology vs. Ring topology: Voice channels are carried by star topology redundant TDM bus. The chances of interrupting your services are decreased by this architecture. No voice delay is increased by adding more capacity. TDM bus is not a shared resource; if it is used by 1 port or 32,768 ports, usage-load doesn't affect voice quality. Board insertion or removal doesn't affect the whole system.
